We feel that the best way we can promote and support the local craft beer businesses is by becoming a part of the growing scene.  We hope to spread the message of local craft beer by serving it in venues where it may not otherwise be available. All five of our team members were raised in Northern Nevada and graduated from the University of Nevada.  Our team started to come together during our college years when Cody, Landon, and Steven formed a bond as active members and leaders of their fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp for short).  After graduating college and remaining close friends, this group expanded to our wives as Cody and Steven both were married.  The group also developed a mutual interest in beer, as Landon led the way in home-brewing expertise while Cody and Steven occasionally immersed themselves in it.   When the opportunity became available to purchase The Tap Wagon, the group had no doubt.  This was our opportunity to fulfill a lifelong goal, while not sacrificing our respective careers.  Below is a brief personal description of each team member:

  • Cody Wagner, CEO: Cody is the driver of this business concept, having used his personal funds to purchase the business and organize the team.  He grew up in Fernley, playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school.  Upon graduating in 2003, he moved on to the University of Nevada and majored in Chemical Engineering.  He graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in 2008 and Master’s Degree in 2012 taking 9 years in true Van Wilder spirit.  His passion for craft beer began while working for Sierra Nevada Brewery on his senior design project in Chemical Engineering.  Between degrees, he circumnavigated the world in the Semester at Sea program.  He started working for the Rmax plant back in Fernley in 2011 as Process Engineer manufacturing foam insulation and moved back to his hometown with his now-wife, Valerie, who he married in 2016.  Cody would describe himself as a diehard fan of all Nevada Wolf Pack and Oakland sports teams, but especially the A’s.  He also coaches at the high school level for the Fernley football and basketball programs.

  • Landon Lawson, COO: Landon is running the operations side of the business.  He grew up in Sparks, graduated from Wooster High School, and attended the University of Nevada where he met the other members of our team.  He has degrees in Biology (2009) and Spanish (2012), as well as EMT certification.  His goal is to become a doctor one day and currently works at Renown part time during the week and at Harrah’s as a bartender during the weekends.  He has the most bartending and customer service experience on our team.  He is also a religious homebrewer, having moving to a 10 gallon all grain system in his house.  He even brewed most of the beer for Cody and Valerie’s wedding and won the award for Best Dark Beer at Reno's Backwash competition in 2017.

  • Steven Caloiaro, Legal Director: Steven was born and raised in Carson City. While at the University of Nevada, he majored in Political Science and helped lead the University of Nevada to a National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association Championship. He went onto Law School at the University of San Diego. Steven is now an intellectual property litigator with an emphasis on patent and trademark law. He also volunteers his time as the Chapter Counselor for SigEp. He and Cody have connected over the years by both being diehard Nevada sports fans and loving Oakland sports, especially the A’s.  Steven and his wife are self-proclaimed “foodies” and go out in Reno to try different bars and restaurants to immerse themselves in what is new and upcoming in the area.

  • Kylee Caloiaro, Marketing Director: Kylee met Steven in high school and have been together ever since. She too graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a business degree and emphasis in marketing. She has worked in PR, marketing, and communications for over 12 years. She is on the non-profit board for the Junior League of Reno and has helped coordinate large scale events, fundraising ideas, marketing plans, legislative bills, and much more. She frequents many local events, restaurants, bars, and fundraisers in the area.

  • Valerie Wagner, Financial Director: Valerie also has Northern Nevada roots as she was raised in the small mining town of Round Mountain, about 60 miles north of Tonopah.  She also attended the University of Nevada, graduating in 2009 with a degree in Accounting.  She went on to earn her CPA license and worked for four years in public accounting, performing financial audits for local governments.  She then moved on to work for the City of Fernley as the Deputy Finance Director and currently works as an Accounting Manager for Peri and Sons in Yerington.  She also serves as Secretary for the Young Leaders Committee for the Boys & Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows.  Her and Cody married in 2016 and live in Fernley, where they raise three chickens and are actively involved in trying to fundraise a Fernley Community Center.
